By Kari Molvar. Great skin is not simply a matter of DNA — your daily habits, in fact, have a big impact on what you see in the mirror. But depending on which product reviews you read or doctors you consult, there is a dizzying number of opinions on everything from how to moisturize to how to protect yourself from UV rays. Ultimately, caring for your skin is simply personal. As your skin needs shifts with age, so will your products.

Korean beauty standards
Facial Beauty and the “New” Golden Ratio (or is it just ?)
Exploring the bias behind what features are deemed most attractive and why even when "science determines" the world's most beautiful human, they always share the same European facial features and fair skin. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that's what we're told, right? Well, what happens when beauty is in the eye of scientists? A recent article claimed that British scientist Dr. Chris Solomon, a proclaimed "expert in visual profiling," used E-FIT Electronic Facial Identification Technique -- a facial recognition software used to create criminal profiles based on eyewitness descriptions and a survey of people to decide on what the most attractive faces are that a woman and man could possess. This isn't the first time someone has used survey methods to explore what humans find most attractive and desirable in other humans, in fact, it seems like almost every year there is a new list of "most beautiful people"-- usually celebrities. However, it's a new concept that we can use science, or more accurately pseudoscience, to get these results.
Facial Beauty and the "New" Golden Ratio (or is it just 1.618 in disguise?)
Hot take: Determining your face shape is a waste of your time. To prove my point, I spent, like, the first half of my life thinking I had a round face, followed by a time when I thought I had an oval face, and then years thinking I had a square-shaped face. Because faces are always changing, and rarely does someone fit exactly into one category.
A good percentage of the beauty trends we see that come out of Korea are effective. Most are, at the very least, quite intriguing. So whenever we hear of a new fad taking Seoul by storm , needless to say, we're going to do everything we can to try it. And that, folks, is how face slimming masks, also known as V-masks, made their way to the Byrdie offices.
